13, unlucky for some!

So today Matt and I headed off to the gym about 9am after a bit of a lay in as we were both off. I had some water, a small handful of bran flakes and a plum before cycling off to the gym. It was quite a leisurely cycle today as a lady appeared in front of us also on a bike who seemed to be cycling to the gym too, with tennis racquets in tow, at a much slower speed then we usually go, but it was nice to enjoy the sunshine.

I jumped onto the treadmill when I got there and set off on my 5K. After about 1K my left leg started to ache a bit, I'm not sure why but a bit more into the run and it felt fine. I increased the speed to 10kph overall, with some spurts of 10.5 and 11 here and there. With this I managed to cut down my run from Monday by 1 minute and 30 seconds, woo hoo!

(Photo taking is improving! The 5.5kph on the right was the speed the machine was going during the cool down phase after completing the original 5KM).

I am hoping to join my first Parkrun on Saturday in Southend. Meanwhile in the gym I am going to try increasing the gradient a little to challenge myself and may even go for a run around the reservoir near our house to ensure I can still do okay off road!

I then just did some light weight works on my arms, legs and abs and cycled home!

Home now we used up some leftovers in the fridge and had some omelette with salad. All showered and ready we are about to have a cycle into the country and stop off at one of the country pubs en route. I haven't quite decided if I am going to have an alcoholic beverage or try and be good and stick to something softer! I may post some pictures next time along with my usual post!

Ciao!

Monday 11th August!

So yesterday my boyfriend and I cycled off to the gym. While he wandered off to do rowing and weights, I jumped onto the treadmill to crack on with my 5k run. This probably isn't much to some, especially as I am not yet adding a gradient, but I am only just starting my fitness journey and I am taking it one run at a time!

I think my last run (also my first ever conscious 5K) was around the 32/33 minute mark. I managed to cut this down by a minute which was really positive for me, I really want to push myself each time I train. I then tried to get a picture of this so I could keep a record of my times and stats, it was a bit blurry as I felt a bit self-conscious when the staff walked past as I snapped away!

(Apologies for rubbish photo, will aim to get better and not hide my camera like a wimp quickly when people walk past, ha).

I then skipped off to a Zumba class before heading home. I love Zumba (I love Bokwa even more but they don't do it at my new gym *sadface*). It just makes me smile. I am probably doing half the moves wrong without realising when doing the class but the energy and thought of a whole room of us madly dancing and jumping about just makes me smile.

I then cycled back home and had a boiled egg with some asparagus soldiers and a very spicy (and very nice, kudos to Matt) Virgin Mary. It was a lovely day!

Hello!

This is the first step onto my online road to fitness! I am starting this blog in an attempt to be accountable for my actions and keep a log of how far I come (if I get anywhere!). I recently joined the gym again after a move and having to cancel my old membership after leaving the area. I am not at all the fittest person in the world... But I am making a positive effort to become fitter, healthier and more positive!

I will post here my running adventures (I have recently registered to Parkrun), my fitness journey and some healthy meals and ideas!

Please feel free to comment, message and add me, I like the idea of a supportive online community!

I will officially start this logging tomorrow, having already been to the gym and eaten for the day.

Hoping everybody had a good weekend!

Hannah :)
